walk around

 I went on a walk the other day just to kind of feel the breeze. It was a little cold but after walking for a bit it was fine.

This was an odd pile of groceries that appeared to be rotting. I wonder if someone just left their groceries in the grass and animals got to it.

I do think creative street sign vandalism is fun to look at. Seattle is not a fan of cops.

Saw this bucket filled to the brim with cigarette butts. It was in a construction site so I suppose this makes sense.

This was in the dugout of a baseball field in a high school. I looked up the lyrics and it appears to be from Waste of Time by Lil Peep but when I read the first line I could only think of this song.

I walked past the track at this high school. There was this strong smelling smoke in the air that you can kind of see in this photo. I believe it was because of some heavy machinery that was moving around the area.

This was a dispensary I passed by. I suppose times have been tough lately.

A cool little theater I passed by. I want to go and watch this later.

These three antennae towers hold the infrastructure for TV networks I think

I used Google Maps to see where exactly these guys are located. Right next to the Trader Joe's over here:

This was honestly kinda cool. Didn't know Google Maps could do this.

I ended up looking up what each of these towers are for on the FCC website.

They're about 170 meters (557 ft) tall, it seems. They are quite visible from all points as they are on the top of the hill.

foggy seattle

 went out on another run the other day. It was a cloudy afternoon, kind of chilly and quite foggy.

This was perhaps more interesting to me than it should have been. A playground on the roof of an apartment. I don't think I've seen such a thing before. It would be a neat view for a kid maybe.

This is somewhere in the international district. Thought this was interesting as the top sign is in Japanese (南ワシントン通り) whereas the bottom one is written in Chinese (五番街南)

I passed by what appears to be a tent community. It was across from a hospital.

I took these stairs down to get closer to the waterfront. I believe this is Lake Union

reminded me of spirited away just a bit

saw some dumpster street art. not the cutest, but I guess it adds some color to this gray old place.

Lake Union was also quite foggy. This was around 1 or 2pm or so.

This is an attraction I have yet to try out. But it sounds cool.

I liked the vibe I was getting standing under this bridge. It was quieter than you'd think.

While I was running, I suddenly noticed that the path I was on was a train track. I suppose it has been repurposed and de-urbanized.

I like the neighborhood regional snark. I haven't met enough Seattle locals to confirm anything, but it seems to me like there must be identities attached to the typical residents of certain neighborhoods. That makes sense, a lot of cities have that I suppose.

While I was in Fremont I stopped by to grab a meal at Lucky's. Their banh mi quite hit the spot. I think I'll come back to try their pho next time.

This was an apartment complex facing the lake. I found the design interesting. It appears to be made of shipping containers on the top and concrete on the bottom. There is some sort of communal garden sitting at the bottom of the structure.

I've never seen such a sign before. It appears there is lichen growing on it that has been wiped off.

went to Trader Joe's today. afterwards I bought some coffee from a walk-up coffee hut inside a gas station. noticed the sun starting to set an took a few pictures.

Haven't posted in like 7 years or so, but I'm back. It looks like I made a half-hearted attempt to get back into posting here in 2018:

The main similarity between me back then and me right now is that I have a lot of time on my hands. So I'm back to blogging :)

Since the last time I've posted I graduated high school and also college and I am now living in Seattle. Yesterday I went for a run and took some pictures I wanted to document.

This was an interesting building I passed that looked very similar to a building in Chicago called Aqua

I ran alongside the lakeside that cuts Seattle into two and took these photos:

This really grungy looking building reminds me of New England for some reason. I lived in Massachusetts as a kid and haven't returned since I left in like, 2005, but I seem to remember the vibes being similar as that picture.

Kind of close to the above pictures I found a bench with a pretty mosaic of sorts, and also a map of California on it (well, if you can call it a map)

We got all the major landmarks -- Napa Valley, SF, the Central Valley (?), Hollywood, and Cactusland

Seattle is incredibly hilly, which makes it a little hard to run. However, you do get some really great views every now and then. I found this sweet little spot with a tiny bench that overlooks Portage Bay, and it's a great place to relax. Here's the sidewalk leading into it:

I enjoyed this banner since I watched the new Spiderman movie recently. Cute stuff Seattle :p

Last few pics I have here are a bit grodier: here's an actively decaying poster pulp puddle in Capitol Hill I passed by. It appears that the rain got onto all layers of the posters stapled to this wooden pole and eventually gravity took care of the rest.

This was a steep staircase I passed by while trying to find my way home that I decided against going up, as there was a no trespassing sign and also it looked super slippery. There are a lot of staircases here and there in between roads simply because of the weird geography of this place.

I'm noticing now that these pictures are all a little shaky. I'll keep in mind to stabilize a little better since for most of these I just whipped out my phone and snapped a photo before resuming running.
